HEPA (Human Ecology Practical Area) Farmer Field School (FFS) is a pioneering training dedicated to strengthen indigenous youth. HEPA FFS lies at the heart of the 6 inter-thematic networks action of Mekong Community Network Action for Ecological Trading (MECO-ECOTRA).
Overuse of resources and the lack of a caring attitude towards Human-Nature relationships in many sensitive watershed ecosystems have been the major causes leading to land desertification problems, gradual erosion of social traditions, and the losses of ecological biodiversity.
A successful study tour for internship 2013 – 2014
02/04/2014
Based on the cooperation between FK program and SPERI, Thejani, who is a Srilanka internship, was sent to SPERI for an eco-farming course in FFS-HEPA. Beside the education program in HEPA, the study tour was organized to help the participant more understand eco-farming at household level. On 25th Feb 2013 to 6th Jan 2014, Thejani visited and practiced at Mr. Phuoc’s farm in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. The study tour has provided many practical lessons which she has shared with FFS-HEPA students by a presentation. To achieve this good result, the role of Mr. Phuoc was very important in teaching by hands-on with Thejani. He is a respectful eco-farming teacher from whom we need to learn.
